Shelf Prongs

Step-by-Step Guide to Installing Shelf Prongs

Tools and Materials Needed

  • Parts: Pipes, flanges, endcaps, screws, etc.
  • Electric drill or screwdriver
  • Wall anchors (if necessary)
  • Measuring tape
  • Spirit level
  • Pencil

Step 1: Lay Out the Kitset Parts

  • Check components: Lay out the black pipes, fittings, flanges, screws, end caps and saddle clamps (if included).

Step 2: Assemble the Pipe Rail

  • Connect the parts: Begin by attaching the straight pipes to the flanges. Tighten firmly by hand and make sure the parts don't wobble. Now add the end cap.

Step 3: Measure the Placement on the Wall

  • Decide the position: Choose where the shelf prong will be mounted.
  • Mark anchor points: Use the measuring tape and pencil to mark the locations for the flanges on the wall. Make sure the rail will be level.
  • Check spacing: Measure the distance between flange centers to match the pipe lengths.

Step 4: Attach the Flanges to the Wall

  • Drill holes: Use a drill to create a hole at one of the the marked spots for the flanges. If mounting on plaster consider wall anchors to support the weight.
  • Screw in the flanges: Using the screws provided, secure the flanges to the wall. Ensure they are tightly in place.
  • Once attached: Repeat the process with each screw hole.

Step 5: Install The Shelf

  • Place shelf on prongs: The shel;f should sit flat on the pipe. Ensure your timber is the right dimensions to do so.
  • Screw in the saddle clamps: Place the saddle clamp in the middle of the pipe and screw it in place. Clamps will bend to grip the pipe and prevent slippage.

Step 6: Clean and Finish

  • Wipe down: Clean the shelf and parts using a duster or vacuum to collect dust.
  • Inspect the installation: Make sure everything looks even and properly aligned.
